Kevin Durant Becomes An Investor Of The Philadelphia Union

Source: Courtesy of Nike / Courtesy of Nike

NBA All-Star Kevin Durant has made his latest business investment and it will be in the city of brotherly love. Philly’s soccer team Philadelphia Union and Kevin Durant have joined forces as KD has purchased 5% ownership of the team.

With this new business venture, this will also give him the possible option to add another 5% (and free cheesesteaks for life) in the near future. This ownership stake will include marketing and community partnership with sports business Thirty Five Ventures and business executive Rich Kleiman. Kevin Durant Charity Foundation has made a statement regarding the partnership, “I’m excited to partner with the Philadelphia Union for years to come. My team and I connected instantly with the Union coaching staff and leadership, as well as the team’s story,” Durant said in a statement. “Off the pitch, I’m looking forward to working in the Chester and Philadelphia communities and making an impact in the same way that the KDCF has been able to in my hometown of Prince George’s County.”

Now all we need is KD to take his on-court talents to Philly as well!

After singer Adele announced her divorce from her husband, Kevin Durant decided to shoot his shot.

Durant immediately followed the “Rolling In the Deep” singer on Instagram after she made the announcement of the split and folks on Twitter caught the fast follow.

Durant has admitted being a fan of Adele for years and now form the follow it looks like he wants to be more.

Steph Curry, who has an endorsement with Under Armour, disagrees with his teammate Kevin Durant’s statement about nobody wants to play ball in Under Armour sneakers.

“Where we were four years ago, and where we are now—you can’t tell me nobody wants to wear our shoes,” he said. “I know for a fact that they do.”

“I told him that he has a certain opinion based on his experience growing up in the Nike business,” he told the Observer. “What that means when it comes to the competition among shoe brands and universities and the whole grassroots system and whatnot—he’s entitled to that opinion obviously.”

15 NBA Players Who Took Their Hardwood Talents To The Booth

The saying goes, rappers want to ball, athletes want to rap, but unfortunately the abilities from the hardwood didn’t carry over to the booth for many of those that tried.

Take a look at 15 current and former NBA superstars that tried to take their talents to the studio.

Lebron James – F*ckwithmeyouknowigotit

Source: FREDERIC J. BROWN / Getty

Lebron tries to get his Hov on in his only freestyle video released. This isn’t as bad as some of the others, but still probably should have kept this for his own ears. He probably won’t be crowned King of the microphone anytime soon.

Kobe Bryant Ft. Tyra Banks – K.O.B.E

Utah Jazz v Los Angeles Lakers, Game 2

Source: Lisa Blumenfeld / Getty

Kobe was really feeling himself with this record, appropriately titled K.O.B.E. But again who wouldn’t? He took Brandy to his senior prom, and a few weeks later was the future of the Lakers, so we get it, but again, this would of been better to keep on his and Tyra Banks iPod.

Shaquille O’Neal – I Got Skillz

Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant (L) talks to teamma

Believe it or not, this song was a big hit on the Billboard charts at the time, and the album ended up going platinum, yes a million copies were sold. You know how many artists never accomplish that? Shaq really took advantage of his bigger than life character and cashed in. But believe it or not Shaq definitely has some flow compared to a lot of the other athletes.

Kevin Durant – Worried About Tomorrow

Milwaukee Bucks v Oklahoma City Thunder

Kevin Durant seems to just rap as a hobby, and isn’t terrible. But it seems that he hops on tracks with his artist that he signed, to help give the song some more shine being he’s KD. Can’t get mad at that.

Ron Artest a.k.a Metta WorldPeace – Champions

New York Knicks v Los Angeles Lakers

Metta WorldPeace, aka Ron Artest, always had hip-hop in his blood since he grew up in NYC in its height of hip-hop dominance. And after winning his first championship with the Lakers, he let the world know through his song that he is the Champion!

Stephen Jackson – America Da Beautiful ft. Scarface

Utah Jazz v Los Angeles Clippers

Stephen Jackson retired from the hardwood and now lives in the booth. Unlike a lot of the one hitter rapper/ballers, he does it full time for a living now and goes by Stak5 and has collaborated with some big emcees from the south, including the track below with Scarface. His bars and concept behind this song are as real as it gets, but still needs to work on that voice complexion. He even called out his former owner Donald Sterling, for obvious reasons.

Steve Francis – Finer Things

Orlando Magic Steve Francis against Houston Rockets David Wesley

Steve Francis was once a NBA star, then just disappeared from the league. Last we heard from Stevie Franchise, he was Drunk In Love at the club, and getting his chain snatched on stage in Houston. He sure seems to know how to get caught up in the “hip-hop drama”, just not so much on actually making quality hip-hop music.

Lou Williams ft. Meek Mill – I Want It All

lou williams

6th man like Lou Will. After being name dropped heavy on Drake’s new song 6th Man, (and actually won 6th man of the year in the NBA in 2015). Lou has already been a “veteran” in this rap game. While playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, Lou Williams linked up with Philly’s own Meek Mill for a few collabs.

Tony Parker ft. Fabolous – Top Of The Game

Source: FREDERIC J. BROWN / Getty

I bet a lot of you had no idea about this, because we didn’t. Back in the mid 2000’s Tony Parker took a try in the hip-hop game. His biggest song we could find featured Fabolous, but since TP rapped in French, we can’t tell you if the lyrics were any good, but those clothes, bring back some throwback memories!

Allen Iverson – 40 Barz

Milwaukee Bucks v Philadelphia 76ers

Source: Ezra Shaw / Getty

A.I. was the king of the NBA at the time he released his rap debut. He kept it all the way streets unlike some other athletes, and to hip-hop fans, the content was nothing new, but to many media members it totally caught them off guard, and created quite the controversy in the media.

Iman Shumpert – The Offs

BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 Red Carpet Presented By Sprite

Source: Bennett Raglin/BET / Getty

Iman Shumpert is the reason for this whole post. He does have a few other songs out, and the concept behind a playoff anthem for his team is there. Kind of has a 3-stacks type of feel, in a way.

Chris Webber ft. Kurupt – Gangsta, Gangsta

NBA Playoffs: Pistons Beat Bulls 81-74

Source: Sporting News Archive / Getty

Chris Webber has been a major name in basketball since his freshman year at Michigan. His hip-hop career never really equated to that. Should of called a timeout before the beat dropped.

Joe Smith aka Joe Beast – The Beginning

Remember Joe Smith, the once first overall pick? Well he is now a full time rapper named Joe Beast. Enough said.

Cedric Ceballos Ft Warren G – Flow On

Cedric Ceballos, remember that name? Well back in the day he linked up with West Coast legend Warren G and made himself his own West Coast record.

Delonte West – KFC Freestyle

Delonte West and his cousin got their freestyle on for 5 minutes while waited for some chicken at KFC drive through. This by far, takes the cake with ballers thinking their rappers. “He got that KFC hookup.”

Chris Brown Co-Sign’s Kevin Durant’s Drake Night Rant With Some Gang Signs

Toronto Raptors lose to the Golden State Warriors

This week, the Toronto Raptors played the Golden State Warriors and Toronto went all out honoring their hometown hero Drake with a special “Drake Night” celebratory theme. Unfortunately, folks like Kevin Durant and Chris Brown couldn’t care less…

In a post-game interview, things took a petty turn when Drake accidentally (or did he?) bumped into Durant who in turn abruptly stormed off saying, “I don’t give a damn ’bout no Drake night!”

Well, turns out Chris Brown also wasn’t feeling all the Drake love that night and stopped by Balleralert‘s Instagram page to express exactly that. In the comments, he wrote, “ON PIIIIIIIIRUUUUUUUU!!!!! EASTSIDE 500blk on da FINGERS.” Now we’re not exactly sure when Breezy became a Bloods gang member, but that statement could easily be interpreted as a threat.

Many Chris Brown fans responded to his  comment telling him to chill, while others are questioning what his affiliation is with the West-Coast based gang is.

See Breezy’s comment below:

Meanwhile, Drake is still crushing on ESPN’s Doris Burke:

LMAO!: Kevin Durant “Don’t Give A Damn” About “Drake Night” In Toronto [VIDEO]

Welp it doesn’t look like Kevin Durant was here for Drake bumping him last night…and he made that very clear on live tv.  See what happened below.

Drake believes he relates to and gets the same attention as Kevin Durant but he might have picked up another enemy Wednesday.

During Durant’s postgame interview after Golden State defeated Toronto, Drake playfully bumped into the Warriors star, shifting his balance and throwing off his train of thought. Drake might have just been joking but Durant did not seem to appreciate the bump and responded by staring hypothetical daggers at October’s Very Own:

Let us all take a moment to reminisce on the good ole days, when we referred to Ginuwine as Genufine and fantasized about his pony while watching his greasy chiseled abs gyrate in music videos when they had budgets. Ah. Good times.

Little did we know, Ginufine was actually hung like a…you know the rest. Women are losing their sh*t over a leaked photo of Ginufine’s male member.

And, in case you doubted the authenticity of the penis pic, the ‘So Anxious’ singer tweeted this:

Did Russell Westbrook Troll Kevin Durant With His Pre-Game Outfit?

Oklahoma City Thunder v Golden State Warriors

Source: Lachlan Cunningham / Getty

Thursday night’s matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder was the one game circled on every NBA fan’s calendar.

It was the first time we’d ever seen Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook on opposite sides of the ball. The game got off to a lopsided start. The Thunder lead for much of the first half before Durant exploded in the second half with a barrage of 3-pointers. But the best shot came before the game even started when Westbrook walked into the arena wearing all white and an Official Photographer bib.

Amateur photography just so happens to be one of Kevin Durant’s favorite hobbies. He even got to cover Super Bowl 50 for the Players’ Tribune, so Westbrook’s choice of clothing was pretty shady — yet clever.

Unfortunately, the night didn’t end well for Russ and the Thunder. They were defeated 122-96 by the Warriors.

Days After Losing Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook Loses A Game Of One-On-One To A 7th Grader

Oklahoma City Thunder v Golden State Warriors - Game Seven

As if losing Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors wasn’t enough, Russell Westbrook‘s post-season continues to get worse.

On Saturday at the NBA star’s training camp, a video was released of Westbrook playing a 7th grader named Kyle in a game of one-on-one, and surprisingly the kid won.

First to three wins, and it was time for the middle schooler to show and prove. Kyle somehow drives past Westbrook for a seemingly easy lay-up, but Westbrook takes a few strides before swatting the ball as soon as it leaves the kid’s hands.

The next possession is when Westbrook falls victim to somehow a few feet shorter than him. Instead of going for another lay-up, the kid pulls back and launches a three-pointer that goes in. His classmates go wild as Westbrook daps him up, because the game was all in good fun.

Hopefully this isn’t a preview of what we will see when Westbrook doesn’t have Durant by his side. Durant has said that he spoke to Westbrook about the big decision to join the Warriors and can understand why his old teammate would be angry.

With all the major moves happening during the offseason, the 2016-17 NBA season is going to be exciting to watch.

For now, enjoy all the videos from the athletes taking part in their summer training camps.

Kevin Durant Joins The Golden State Warriors & Lil B Lifts The Curse

Oklahoma City Thunder v Golden State Warriors - Game Seven

What a day it has been for Kevin Durant. For starters, he decided to sign a 2-year $54 Million contract with the Golden State Warriors.

Next came the criticism for joining a team that he fought so hard against in the Western Conference finals this year. Much of the uproar is that he’ll be joining a team that isn’t his. A story that’s very reminiscent of what LeBron James did upon joining the Miami Heat in 2010.

However, Durant opted for a much less flashy way of making his decision by announcing the news with a heartfelt letter posted on the Players’ Tribune. Though he’s from Washington D.C., Durant acknowledges how much he has done for Oklahoma and vice versa.

It really pains me to know that I will disappoint so many people with this choice, but I believe I am doing what I feel is the right thing at this point in my life and my playing career. I will miss Oklahoma City, and the role I have had in building this remarkable team. I will forever cherish the relationships within the organization—the friends and teammates that I went to war with on the court for nine years, and all the fans and people of the community. They have always had my back unconditionally, and I cannot be more grateful for what they have meant to my family and to me,” he writes in the letter.

Now that he’s moving on from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Lil B has decided to remove that pesky curse that has been haunting him for several seasons.

Not only is the curse lifted, but with Lil B being from California, he might even catch a few of Durant’s games.

Michael Jordan Once Got Inside Jerry Stackhouse’s Head By Singing Anita Baker

Michael Jordan - Chicago Bulls File Photos

Everyone knows Michael Jordan is one of the best trash talkers to ever set foot on the basketball court. But did you know MJ used to sing Anita Baker to Jerry Stackhouse during their face-offs?

On Monday, former NBA small forward Roshown McLeod appeared on the Brown and Scoop podcast to reveal Jordan’s love for the songstress:

I just remember stories of Jordan singing to guys when he was playing. His number one song was “Giving You The Best That I Got.” I remember him singing that to Jerry Stackhouse one day and just putting on a show. It was like he had a concert going on in his own head. He gave it to you every time,” McLeod said.

Picturing Jordan sink a clutch three as he sings, “And together we can calm a stormy sea,” is a pretty amazing visual.

Some of Jordan’s most famous trash-talking incidents include the time he called Muggsy Bogues a midget mid pull-up, and the time he gave Clyde Drexler a backhanded compliment, saying Drexler was a better 3-point shooter than Jordan chose to be. And of course, there’s the time he walked into the Washington Bullets’ locker room with a lit cigar and asked who was guarding him.

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant has something in common with His Airness, and it surely isn’t trash-talking. Last night during the Thunder‘s loss to the Mavericks, Durant tied Jordan for the most misses in a post-season game since 1997. According to ESPN, Durant’s 26 misses are the most he’s ever had in a game in his career.

Just missed ’em. Just missed ’em. Everything looked good for me. Coach drew up some good plays. Teammates set great screens. Russell delivered the ball perfect. It’s on me after that. I’ve just got to make ’em next game,” Durant said in a post-game interview.

Maybe Durant needs some Anita Baker in his life, too.

Steph Curry Ties His NBA Record Of Twelve 3-Pointers In A Game In Epic Win Against OKC Thunder

2015 NBA Finals - Game Six

The Golden State Warriors pushed their historic record to 53-5 on Saturday night with a victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it was certainly no easy win.

Memphis Grizzlies v Oklahoma City Thunder - Game One

After spending the first half of the game trailing OKC and having not led at all, the Warriors made a much-needed turn around during the second half. Although the team got off to a shaky start with shooting star (all pun) Steph Curry heading to the locker room at the beginning of the third quarter with an ankle injury, they were able to get back into the fight mid way through the quarter after Steph’s return. Facing one of the top offensive teams in the league, the Warriors continuously came up short against power plays by OKC front-runners Kevin Durant and Russell Westrbook, but still managed to tie the game at 75 early into the 4th quarter. The final minutes of the 4th quarter quickly turned into an exhilarating shootout between KD and Curry, with both teams scrambling to come away with the win. Then, with the Warriors down by 2 at just 0.7 seconds left, Dub Nation clutchman Andre Igoudala was sent to the freethrow line, where he knocked down both shots to tie the game and push the match up into over time.

Although KD fouled out less than a minute into OT, OKC continued to push the Warriors to their limit. However, in the end, they proved to be no match for Steph and his barrage of 3-pointers. With the game tied at 118 and less than a second to go, Steph hit a classic three-pointer from nearly half court to give the Warriors their 53rd win of the season. KD topped out at 37 points, while Steph finished with 46 points, also managing to tie his NBA record for most three-pointers in a game with 12 total. Even Mrs. Curry joined in to celebrate the Warrior’s  epic victory.

Top 5 NBA Trash Talkers: 2016 All-Star Team Edition

Orlando Magic v Los Angeles Clippers

Source: Andrew D. Bernstein / Getty

The art of trash-talking in sports is one attempted by most but mastered by few and when NBA All-Star weekend rolls around, you’d better believe the smack talking is cranked up to the max!

From retired NBA greats like Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and even Michael Jordan, to current players like Kevin Garnett, Lance Stephenson, and Kobe Bryant, plenty of pro basketball’s most talented are also infamous for their taking as many verbal shots at their opponents as they do on the court.

Here’s a look at the top 5 trash talkers on the 2016 NBA All-Star roster.

5. Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant might not seem like he’d be one run his mouth much on the court, but according to Draymond Green, KD is secretly one of the most notorious trash-talkers in the league.

4. James Harden

There are only a few incidents of Harden doing any real trash-talking on the court, but his now-infamous cooking move after annihilating and opponent likely got under the skin of other teams just as much.

3. Draymond Green

The majority Draymond Green’s most memorable trash talking moments have actually taken place either before or after a game, he’s certainly built a reputation for being an uncensored mouthpiece for the Warriors in addition to a great player.

2. Chris Paul

The cameras rarely catch CP3’s trash-talking in action, but ask just about anyone who’s ever played against him and they’ll tell you that he can hang with the best of them.

1. Kobe Bryant

Kobe’s legendary talent on the court has out shined his trash-talking throughout the course of his career, but he’s been consistently known to throw more than a few verbal jabs back at anyone who tried it with him on the court.

Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio‘s bromance started about 20 years ago while filming What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.

During the 31st annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Depp shared stories about working with DiCaprio during the 1993 hit. “It was a hard time for me, that film, for some reason. I don’t know why. I tortured him,” he said of the then 19-year-old DiCaprio.

He added, “He was always talking about these videos games, you know? I told you it was kind of a dark period. ‘No, I will not give you a drag of my cigarette while you hide from your mother again, Leo.’” But Depp did admit that Leo was a very hard worker and he respected him, saying, “I’d say the absolute truth is that I respect Leo a lot. He worked really hard on that film and spent a lot of time researching. He came to set and he was ready to work hard and all his ducks were in a row.”
