Gabrielle Union Opens Up About Her Struggle To Conceive With Husband Dwyane Wade

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade recently celebrated their 1-year wedding anniversary by releasing an epic video montage featuring unforgettable footage from their big day, but she recently revealed that it’s been a trying year for the couple even in the midst of their happiness.

Gabby, 42, has been relatively vague in the past about whether or not she desires to have more children in addition to her role as a stepmother to Dwayne’s 4 children, but she decided changed her semi-silent tune and open up about her struggles to conceive following her 2014 nuptials. Speaking candidly with Redbook Magazine about their plans to have kids of their own, she admitted that choosing to pursue her career in her 20s and 30s rather than have children may have cost her the chance to become a mom.

“So far, it has not happened for us. A lot of my friends deal with this. There’s a certain amount of shame that is placed on women who have perhaps chosen a career over starting a family younger. The penance for being a career woman is barrenness. You feel like you’re wearing a scarlet letter.”

Going even further into her reasons for choosing to have a career over having a family at a young age, Gabby pointed out the challenges career women face when they become mothers.

“As much as there are strides being made — you get pregnant, your career takes a hit.  You can’t have a bad day. Don’t you dare cry at work. Don’t raise your voice. Especially if you’re a black woman in corporate America — now you’re ‘the angry black woman.”

Having been a proudly permanent fixture in the lives of Dwyane’s children for the past 10+ years and getting plenty of practice raising kids, Gabby will surely make a great mother to her own child if and when the time comes.

LeBron James Reunites With Dwyane Wade On First Game Back In Miami

Cleveland Cavaliers v Miami Heat

Yesterday’s much-anticipated Christmas Day matchup between the Cavaliers and the Heat marked the first time LeBron James has returned to Miami since making the very public move back to Cleveland over the 2014 offseason.

Drawing both boos and cheers on his return, the four-time MVP winner was honored during the first quarter with a video tribute chronicling his time in Miami, and received a standing ovation from the crowd following the remembrance.

Not surprisingly, the Heat came out on top with a 101-91 win led by Dwyane Wade’s game-high 31 points, 24 of which were scored in the first half. For his part, James led his team with 30 points, four rebounds, and eight assists but stumbled frequently at the free throw line, sinking just 10 of his 18 chances from behind the line. Notably, the loss was the first game for the Cavaliers without their integral center, Anderson Varejao, following his season-ending injury earlier this week.

Opening up after the game, James admitted that the occasion was “very difficult” given the circumstance of his return and later posted an image of his reunion with close friend Dwayne Wade to his Instagram account.

“It’s tough to play under these circumstances, man,” James said after the game. “You’re so used to playing regular-season games, and then you have to play one like this. Or my first home game, when I went back home (this season), my first home game. So, it’s very difficult.”

“A lot of emotions come back and you know, I spent four years here with those guys, man and some guys are still here, some guys are not here,” he added, touching on the video tribute near the beginning of the game. “We put in a lot of hard work and dedication just to do the best we could.”

While Miami’s Big Three are all opting out of their final year with the Miami Heat, back center Greg Oden has taken his talents off the court and to the beach. And some poor beach had the chance to defend a volleyball spike against the big man. Her chances of stopping a spike against was very slim to none.

Oden has had a number of injuries since joining the NBA in 2007, mostly having issues with his knees. While he’s had this issues for more than seven years, he was able to make the Miami Heat roster as the center is only 26 and has some miles left on those knees as seen in the video below. Hopefully he can make some contributions with the Heat and not pounding someone’s face with a volleyball.

On June 19th Miami’s own DJ Irie hosted his 10th Annual Irie Weekend to benefit the Irie Foundation (www.iriefoundation.org).  The festivities spanned over three days and welcomed guests to the first ever Irie Weekend Hotel at the National in Miami Beach.

On Thursday afternoon, #IWX began with a youth workshop at the Miami Beach Golf Club where 40 children participated in the FORE Life Golf Clinic.  Weekend co-host, Jamie Foxx attended the clinic to meet with kids and also learn a few pointers of his own in preparation for the next day’s anchor golf event.  Thursday evening kicked off the weekend with a Welcome Reception presented by Hublot featuring a live and silent auction and concert by Ma$e at the Irie Weekend Hotel.

“When I first started this event a couple of years ago it was just me and the homies out on the golf course and to see what’s grown to it really just blows me away,” Irie told TheUrbanDaily.com.

On Friday, over 150 golfers including Dwyane Wade, Alonzo Mourning, Kevin Dillon, Shawn Marion, Omar Benson Miller and Jason Taylor teed off for a “party on the course” at the Celebrity Golf Tournament presented by Cadillac.  The holes were set up with an array of sponsor activations, Premier Beverage bars, DJ booths and even a pop up basketball hoop for those needing a change of pace on the green.  PGA Pro Rickie Fowler also gave some extra pointers to Jamie Foxx who was working on perfecting his stance and swing. For those escaping the summer sun, Beats Music kept guests cool and entertained with the first ever Beats Box VIP Experience, a 3,200 square foot tent complete with top shelf cocktails, food by Jimmy Johns, an American Airlines executive lounge and Keurig coffee stand.

The surprises continued Friday night, as Irie and E! News anchor Terrence Jenkins, hosted a “Think Like A Man Too” movie release party presented by Beck’s at Liv Nightclub in the Fontainebleau.  Close friend and fellow S.K.A.M. artist DJ Nick Cannon performed a guest set just before Puff Daddy jumped on the stage to perform an impromptu concert as Irie mc-ed.

The Saturday itinerary began with a BBQ Beach Bash at the Irie Weekend Hotel, followed by the highly anticipated Celeb Bowl at Lucky Strike Lanes.  Kids from the Irie Foundation joined in on the action and had the opportunity to bowl with celebrities they’ve only seen on the court, field or big screen. Bringing the weekend to an end, E11even Miami was the spot for the closing celebration, which also doubled as DJ Irie’s birthday party with performances by Jermaine Dupri and Jamie Foxx while Puff Daddy and Floyd Mayweather toasted the birthday boy from their VIP tables.

5 Reasons LeBron James Opting Out Should Scare Heat Fans

lebronoptsout

When free agency started, Carmelo Anthony was the most sought after player. That is until this morning when LeBron James announced and informed the Heat through his agent that he plans to exercise the early-termination in his contract to become a free agent on July 1.

[ione_share]

The news that LeBron went with this option shouldn’t be surprising; after the NBA Finals lost we’re sure he had a lot to think about and by opting out he puts the heat on will the Heat to improve the roster. At the moment he is the best player in the world, and he doesn’t want to repeat what happened this year in the Finals.

We put together five reasons why LeBron should opted out and look at his options.

D. Wade Is Not The Same Player

NBA Finals, Game 5: San Antonio at Miami

Before entering game five of the NBA finals, LeBron James told his fellow teammates to follow his lead, but the Heat ended up losing game five leaving some to wonder can LeBron carry the load for the Heat while two other superstars are currently in the line. Fans aren’t as worried about Chris Bosh as it was revealed that plays aren’t really called for the power forward but everyone is more concerned about Wade’s knees and game play. D. Wade isn’t the same player he was four years ago when  LeBron joined the Heat. Since 2011, Wade has been riddled with injuries and getting older isn’t making the situation any better. With $40 million guaranteed  to Wade for the next two seasons, it’s going to difficult for Pat Riley and the Heat to retool the team around LeBron.

The Supporting Cast

San Antonio Spurs vs Miami Heat, 2014 NBA Finals

The supporting cast for the Miami Heat didn’t show, Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole, Ray Allen and Chris Andersen had tough series against the Spurs. And one position the Heat could use an upgrade with is at the point guard position  and with the NBA Draft a few days away the Heat could get a steal in the late first round.  With everyone looking for franchise  players the Heat could pick up a player like  Shabazz Napier who stayed at UConn all fours and could be inserted into a starting lineup on day one. Mario Chalmers will also be a free agent which means he could leave the Heat and chase the money since he knows his position is at stake after his performance during the finals. The Heat as a team has to get younger if they want to reach the NBA finals for a fifth straight season.

Return Back To Cleveland

Atlanta Hawks v Cleveland Cavaliers - Game One

With LeBron’s wife, Savannah, making headlines by posting an image of Akon which caused a lot of commotion amongst basketball wondering if LeBron is returning back to his hometown.  And if he did it would only be right since he left Cleveland high and dry (well thats how the fans felt during his decision). With a decent  team in place and a high draft pick in tow, by adding LeBron James the Cavs become automatic title contenders in the East. With a younger supporting cast and a rising superstar in Kyrie Irving the Cavs may gave LeBron a better chance of winning a championship than the Heat do at this very moment. The Heat have no idea who will be apart of their lineup for the 2014-15 season. The Cav’s just have to work with second year man Anthony Bennett to give the Cavs force in the middle.

He Lost Again In The Finals

Miami Heat v San Antonio Spurs - 2014 NBA Finals Game Five

As we all know, LeBron promised Heat fans several championships and he delivered on his promise by giving the city back to back championships. He now has two championships but he has lost in three NBA finals, such a record in he finals could hurt his legacy as being one of the greats of all time. One thing that could weigh on James’ mind is losing this year and not making the NBA finals the next season because he’s gotten older. D. Wade has wooden knees and the Miami Heat line up is put together for the short-term and not long-term. A player like LeBron in his prime wants some guarantees in his 11th season LeBron only wants more hardware for his legacy and trophy case.

Putting Cleveland Back on the Map

lebron-james-johnny-manziel-browns-jersey

LBJ put some good years in with Cleveland but he was never able to capture that title that Cleveland desperately needed. The city of Cleveland hasn’t won a championship since 1964, and that’s a very long time not to celebrate. And with client and friend Johnny Manziel currently on the Cleveland Browns both players could bring back excitement to the city of Cleveland.

Is Carmelo Anthony Going To The Heat?

The Denver Nuggets versus the New York Knicks

Rumors have been circulating that the Miami Heat is trying to get Carmelo Anthony on their squad. It seems as though the team is trying to find room in their budget (like that will be difficult) to bring him to South Beach.

Anthony, who is now a free agent, has until June 23 to decide whether or not he will continue playing for the New York Knicks, according to ESPN. If the move does happen, the Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh would see smaller salaries. Also, the Heat would have to wait until July 1 for any kind of contract to happen.

Sources say internal conversations within the Heat organization about pursuing this course have run concurrently with Miami’s bid to win a third consecutive championship, with sources adding that James in particular is likely to try to recoup potential salary sacrificed through fresh off-court business opportunities if the Heat’s new dream scenario does come to fruition.

Lil Wayne Gives Prediction For NBA Finals (Video)

lil-wayne-11052010

The NBA Finals are getting crazy! After the show the San Antonio Spurs put on against The Miami Heat on Tuesday night, one might say they’ll win the series! Not Lil Wayne though. He sat down with Stephen A. Smith & Skip Bayless and gave his NBA Finals prediction.

Kawhi Leonard Leads Spurs To Big Victory Over Heat, Spurs Lead Series 2-1

kawhi-leonard-getty Who knows what pre-game speech the Spurs had,  how they felt about their game 2 lost to the Heat or how they prepared for game 3. Whatever they did before game 3 translated into a record-setting night with the Spurs shooting the lights out all led by Kawhi Leonard career-high 29 points. Going into the halftime the Spurs shot a record-setting  75.8 percent from the field beating down the champs 111-92 in their victory on Tuesday, taking a series lead 2 to 1 against the Heat.

[ione_share]

The Spurs started the game making 19 of  their first 21 shots and finished the half 25 for 33, the best shooting half since the Orlando Magic did it against the Lakers in 2009 Finals when they shot 75 percent by halftime. The Spurs lead as much as 25 point but the Heat challenged the Spurs for a moment when they cut the lead to 7 but it wasn’t enough.

In the opening quarter the Spurs shot 13 for 15 and led 41-25 after one-quarter. Continuing the trend of the first quarter the Spurs made their first six shots bringing the lead up to 55-30.  In the first two games of the Finals Kawhi Leonard scored 18 points. However, the forward felt his outside shot working and made his first six shots finishing the game 10 for 13 from the field.

The NBA has gone away with its 2-3-2 format for the NBA Finals, where the lower seed gets to play three consecutive games at home. If the Spurs can pull off another victory on Thursday they can close out the series in San Antonio on Sunday.  We can’t jump to conclusions as of yet as, for the second straight time in the Finals, the Heat find themselves down in the NBA Finals 2-1 after losing game 3, but we all know the outcome of last year’s finals the Heat won in 7 games.

LeBron James And The Miami Heat Take Game 2

With LeBron James making his return to game 2 after getting criticized for cramp gate in-game 1, the Miami Heat returned to full form and bounced back winning game 2 in the NBA Finals.

LeBron had a great night scoring 35 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, tying up the series 1-1 with a 98-96 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in-game 2 Sunday night. The Heat took full control of the game when Chris Bosh made a go-ahead 3 pointer with a pass from LeBron with 1:18 left in the fourth quarter. The Heat continue their streak of 13 straight wins after a loss in the playoffs.

LeBron played more than 37 minutes and making 14 of 22 shots. However the Heat forward had a very shaky first quarter were he went 1 for 4 with three turnovers, then making the next 11 of 13 shots for the rest of the game. During the two-day break, LeBron received criticism from fans and NBA analysts for leaving game 1 early and not leading his team to a game 1 win.

LeBron put up 11 points in the second quarter, bringing the Heat from 11-points behind earlier in the quarter. The Heat got some big breaks in the fourth quarter when Tony Parker and Tim Duncan missed four straight free throws when they lead the Heat by two points. After  Duncan missed free-throws, with the next Heat possession James made a 3-pointer and then two free throws to put the Heat ahead.

Unlike game 1, game 2 was played in better conditions inside AT&T Center, where the air conditioning failed sending temperatures inside going into the high 90 degrees. The problem was fixed by Friday and was cooler inside for game 2. The series now heads to Miami were the Heat have  a chance to take a series lead before heading back San Antonio for game 5. Until game 3 lets take a look at the best plays from game 2 of the NBA Finals.

LeBron James Gets Cramps Heat Lose Game 1 [GALLERY]

Lebronjamescramps

The first game of the NBA Finals took place Thursday night with the San Antonio Spurs taking it over the Heat with 110-95. It wasn’t without controversy, though, with the Heat’s star player LeBron James missing the last four minutes of the game due to leg cramps which he said was caused by the AT&T Center’s air conditioning malfunctioning.

During the game ABC reporter Doris Burke reported the arena reaching temperatures in the high 90s. During game play LeBron requested to be removed from the game due to hydration and cramping problems until he was removed for good with 3:59 left with the Heat down 94-92. Halfway into the third quarter LeBron ask out the game which seemed a little unusual as head coach Erik Spoelstra would normally pull LeBron at the end of the third quarter.  Once on the bench both LeBron and Chris Bosh both placed ice packs on the back of their necks.

The P.A. announcer had some fun with the A/C malfunction, during timeouts and breaks playing Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” would blare from the speakers.

[ione_embed src=//www.youtube.com/embed/5HHxkTHjBZo service=youtube width=560 height=315 type=iframe]
Once back in the game with a tight and intense fourth quarter LeBron again asked out of the game with 7:31 to play in the game with the Heat leading 86-84. With LeBron out the game the Spur went on a 10-4 run before LeBron returned  with team trailing by four. Once back in the game James had the first possession were he immediately drove to basket scoring on a lay-up but then his cramps returned and he  had to be helped off the floor. After a quick break LeBron returned with 3:53 left in the third. When LeBron left the game the Spurs went on a run out scoring the Heat 16 to 3 in the first game of the NBA finals rematch.

Once off the floor for good Twitter and Instagram began rolling out the jokes about LeBron’s cramps, first bringing up Lance Stephenson’s ear blowing to keep James cool.  Then the meme’s started to roll out and Instagram showed no mercy for the four-time MVP. Take a look.
