Model Anna Mya Says She Has Already Been Invited To The NBA Bubble

Model/Gamer Anna Mya has gone on Twitter to give us the tea before tip-off. NBA players are getting themselves ready to resume the 2020 season in Orlando. Russell Westbrook will not be making the trip due to testing positive for COVID-19. The rest of the league have been in quarantine or in other words the “NBA Bubble“. The players have strict rules to keep everyone safe from getting the virus. One of the biggest rules is no visitors. Well, that rule was short-lived (allegedly) as model Anna Mya has claimed to be invited to the NBA Bubble.

Mo Bambo assumed it was Utah Jazz All-Star Donovan Mitchell but Ms. Mya quickly said no and she “wishes” it was Mitchell.

More news to come as the story develops.

15 NBA Players Who Took Their Hardwood Talents To The Booth

The saying goes, rappers want to ball, athletes want to rap, but unfortunately the abilities from the hardwood didn’t carry over to the booth for many of those that tried.

Take a look at 15 current and former NBA superstars that tried to take their talents to the studio.

Lebron James – F*ckwithmeyouknowigotit

Source: FREDERIC J. BROWN / Getty

Lebron tries to get his Hov on in his only freestyle video released. This isn’t as bad as some of the others, but still probably should have kept this for his own ears. He probably won’t be crowned King of the microphone anytime soon.

Kobe Bryant Ft. Tyra Banks – K.O.B.E

Utah Jazz v Los Angeles Lakers, Game 2

Source: Lisa Blumenfeld / Getty

Kobe was really feeling himself with this record, appropriately titled K.O.B.E. But again who wouldn’t? He took Brandy to his senior prom, and a few weeks later was the future of the Lakers, so we get it, but again, this would of been better to keep on his and Tyra Banks iPod.

Shaquille O’Neal – I Got Skillz

Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant (L) talks to teamma

Believe it or not, this song was a big hit on the Billboard charts at the time, and the album ended up going platinum, yes a million copies were sold. You know how many artists never accomplish that? Shaq really took advantage of his bigger than life character and cashed in. But believe it or not Shaq definitely has some flow compared to a lot of the other athletes.

Kevin Durant – Worried About Tomorrow

Milwaukee Bucks v Oklahoma City Thunder

Kevin Durant seems to just rap as a hobby, and isn’t terrible. But it seems that he hops on tracks with his artist that he signed, to help give the song some more shine being he’s KD. Can’t get mad at that.

Ron Artest a.k.a Metta WorldPeace – Champions

New York Knicks v Los Angeles Lakers

Metta WorldPeace, aka Ron Artest, always had hip-hop in his blood since he grew up in NYC in its height of hip-hop dominance. And after winning his first championship with the Lakers, he let the world know through his song that he is the Champion!

Stephen Jackson – America Da Beautiful ft. Scarface

Utah Jazz v Los Angeles Clippers

Stephen Jackson retired from the hardwood and now lives in the booth. Unlike a lot of the one hitter rapper/ballers, he does it full time for a living now and goes by Stak5 and has collaborated with some big emcees from the south, including the track below with Scarface. His bars and concept behind this song are as real as it gets, but still needs to work on that voice complexion. He even called out his former owner Donald Sterling, for obvious reasons.

Steve Francis – Finer Things

Orlando Magic Steve Francis against Houston Rockets David Wesley

Steve Francis was once a NBA star, then just disappeared from the league. Last we heard from Stevie Franchise, he was Drunk In Love at the club, and getting his chain snatched on stage in Houston. He sure seems to know how to get caught up in the “hip-hop drama”, just not so much on actually making quality hip-hop music.

Lou Williams ft. Meek Mill – I Want It All

6th man like Lou Will. After being name dropped heavy on Drake’s new song 6th Man, (and actually won 6th man of the year in the NBA in 2015). Lou has already been a “veteran” in this rap game. While playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, Lou Williams linked up with Philly’s own Meek Mill for a few collabs.

Tony Parker ft. Fabolous – Top Of The Game

Source: FREDERIC J. BROWN / Getty

I bet a lot of you had no idea about this, because we didn’t. Back in the mid 2000’s Tony Parker took a try in the hip-hop game. His biggest song we could find featured Fabolous, but since TP rapped in French, we can’t tell you if the lyrics were any good, but those clothes, bring back some throwback memories!

Allen Iverson – 40 Barz

Milwaukee Bucks v Philadelphia 76ers

Source: Ezra Shaw / Getty

A.I. was the king of the NBA at the time he released his rap debut. He kept it all the way streets unlike some other athletes, and to hip-hop fans, the content was nothing new, but to many media members it totally caught them off guard, and created quite the controversy in the media.

Iman Shumpert – The Offs

BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 Red Carpet Presented By Sprite

Iman Shumpert is the reason for this whole post. He does have a few other songs out, and the concept behind a playoff anthem for his team is there. Kind of has a 3-stacks type of feel, in a way.

Chris Webber ft. Kurupt – Gangsta, Gangsta

NBA Playoffs: Pistons Beat Bulls 81-74

Chris Webber has been a major name in basketball since his freshman year at Michigan. His hip-hop career never really equated to that. Should of called a timeout before the beat dropped.

Joe Smith aka Joe Beast – The Beginning

Remember Joe Smith, the once first overall pick? Well he is now a full time rapper named Joe Beast. Enough said.

Cedric Ceballos Ft Warren G – Flow On

Cedric Ceballos, remember that name? Well back in the day he linked up with West Coast legend Warren G and made himself his own West Coast record.

Delonte West – KFC Freestyle

Delonte West and his cousin got their freestyle on for 5 minutes while waited for some chicken at KFC drive through. This by far, takes the cake with ballers thinking their rappers. “He got that KFC hookup.”

LOL: Sisqo Remakes The ‘Thong Song’ In Support Of LeBron James

Sisqo Visits The Pool After Dark At Harrah's

It’s been 18 years since Sisqo‘s hit “Thong Song” dominated the airwaves — but the singer recently revamped his classic track all for LeBron James.

TMZ reports that the singer was approached by Colin Cowherd from FS1’s “The Herd” about remaking his 2000 classic in support of LBJ for MVP. Sisqo obliged at first, it turned out to be just the parody they were aiming for. The campaign anthem, also known as the “LeBron Song” throws shade at James Harden, Russell Westbrook and some other NBA stars while praising King James. The video shows Sisqo in the studio before it cuts to roast Harden for his turnovers and bad defense, Westbrook for being inconsistent and many more of the league’s top players.

Instead of the original line, “Let me see that thong,” Sisqo swapped it out with “It’s so wrong if you don’t give it to LeBron.”

Sage Steele Gets The Axe: Anchor Fired From ESPN & Replaced With White Woman

Well, well, well.

Sage Steele, everyone’s least favorite ESPN anchor, who loves to tell anyone who will listen just how “not black” she is, may have just found out about her blackness the hard way. It is being reported that Steele is officially out at ESPN and that she will be replaced by the blonde Michelle Beadle.

The Washington Post is reporting the news that Steele has been relieved of her duties hosting NBA coverage, as Beadle will be taking over her position just ahead of the NBA playoffs. ESPN apparently wanted to go in a different direction regarding its NBA coverage and felt that Michelle Beadle was the right fit.

From WaPo:

Beadle will host the pregame and halftime shows on ABC and will also host the ESPN and ABC studio shows throughout the playoffs, the company announced Tuesday. She will continue co-hosting “SportsNation” Monday through Friday as well. Beadle joined “NBA Countdown” at the start of this season, hosting on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Steele will continue to appear on “SportsCenter on the Road,” as the company announced last fall, and will have what the company said in October would be an expanded on-site presence at events such as the Masters, World Series, Super Bowl, the College Football Playoff, and College Football National Championship.

While laughing at someone else’s misfortune is definitely not the way to go, in this case it’s really hard to feel bad for Sage Steele when she has continuously said inflammatory remarks regarding the black community and what she really thinks of us, despite her being a biological part of it. The irony in her being replaced by a white woman is likely a career development that she probably didn’t see coming.

LOL: Twitter Rips Carmelo Anthony For His Fur Outfit

Carmelo Anthony

Source: Getty / Getty

Carmelo Anthony was giving us early 2000s Cam’ron realness this Tuesday with his winter fashion choice. After the Knicks beat the Pacers 87-81 at Madison Square Garden, Anthony geared up for the New York cold by throwing on a gigantic fur hat and coat.

Of course, Twitter couldn’t deal.

Some were ready to add Anthony as a playable character to Street Fighters.

While others referenced everyone from Migos, to Seinfeld, to Macklemore.

It seems like an abundance of fur isn’t everyone’s fashion choice. But hey, it was cold outside! Whatever gets the job done.

Warriors Star Andre Iguodala Fined $10,000 Over Post-Game Remarks

The NBA fined Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala $10,000 over “inappropriate comments during a postgame media interview,” an organizational press release said on Monday, according to USA Today.

Iguodala raised eyebrows on Friday night during a post-game interview after the team’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he alluded to the powers that be as “master,” and used the N-word.

Iguodala was asked to confirm whether he, along with teammates Stephen CurryKlay Thompson and Draymond Green, would be sitting out Saturday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

“Nope, no clue,” Iguodala replied. “I do what master say.”

“We gotta score more than the other team,” he continued to reporters. “Yep, they want dumb n—-s, so I’m going to give y’all a dumb n—-.”

When asked if the team has internal conflict, Iguodala responded, “What would dumb n—-s say? ‘Just play harder. Figure it out. Change gonna come.’ You know what we used to say. Change gonna come.”

The interview stirred up emotion from critics over Iguodala’s use of the N-word. There were also debates regarding the idea that a mostly White male dominated executive pool in the NBA provides a stark contrast in a league where the majority of athletes are Black.

Others pointed to Iguodala’s remarks as a scathing rebuke of Warrior’s head coach, Steve Kerr.

On Monday, Iguodala explained that his response was part of an inside joke and ultimately expressed regret that his comments caused heightened media attention for the Warriors organization, ESPN reports.

He also made it clear that he has no issues with Coach Kerr. “I have a great relationship with Steve Kerr, and he knows that,” Iguodala said.

Kerr echoed Iguodala’s statements, saying he didn’t believe Iguodala’s comments were directed towards him.

“Andre is one of those guys who likes to stir the pot and has a lot of cryptic messaging at times,” Kerr said. “[He] jokes around. I didn’t take anything from it. It’s just Andre being Andre”.

James Harden Reveals Why He Couldn’t Keep Up With Khloe Kardashian

Houston Rockets v Dallas Mavericks

Source: Danny Bollinger / Getty

James Harden is not here for the tabloids. The Houston Rocket’s shooting guard got real in a candid interview with Sports Illustrated. One of the subjects up for discussion was his previous relationship with reality star Khloe Kardashian.

The two dated for eight months in 2015, a year Harden now calls the “worst year” of his life. Along with fitness issues and a losing streak with the Houston Rockets, Harden had to endure the adamant paparazzi thanks to his famous girlfriend.

“‘I didn’t like all the attention,” he explained. He continues, “I feel like it was for no reason. I wasn’t getting anything out of it except my name out there and my face out there, and I don’t need that…it wasn’t uncomfortable, but it wasn’t me.”

The skilled athlete called it quits with Kardashian when he realized the media attention was interrupting his game focus. He ensures, “I don’t need pictures of myself when I’m driving my car. Who cares? What shoes am I wearing? Who cares? Where am I eating? Who cares? It was unnecessary stuff that I think trickled down to my teammates. I had to eliminate that.”

Harden signed a four-year, $118 million extension with the Rockets in July 2016 and this season, the team is very successful. “I’m not worried about anything but hooping and that may be why I’m having this kind of success,” Harden proclaimed.

All power to anyone who knows when to cut off a distracting relationship — it seems like Harden’s decision is paying off.

Barnes and his teammates visited the club after Sunday night’s game against the New York Knicks. A call was placed to authorities around 12 a.m.

Three NBA Teams Announce They Will No Longer Stay At Trump Hotels

As the world continues to accept the realization that Donald Trump is the president-elect, the backlash of his win continues to grow with each passing day. From dozens of protests and social media uproar to harsh criticism from news outlets, Americans are definitely letting their voices be heard regarding Trump’s victory. The latest Trump backlash is from a trio of NBA teams who have officially announced that they will no longer stay at Trump Hotels during the basketball season.

In a recent statement, the Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks have all decided that they will no longer stay at any Donald Trump-branded hotels this season. This is a pretty bold move by the NBA and likely to garner both criticism and support from Trump supporters and detractors. ESPN has all the details regarding the teams’ decision, as well as the status of other NBA teams plans.

At least three NBA teams have stopped staying at Donald Trump-branded hotels this season in part to avoid any implied association with the new president-elect, according to league sources. Sources told that the Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks have moved away from Trump hotels in New York City and Chicago, which bear Donald Trump’s name through a licensing agreement. [In addition] another Eastern Conference team contracted to stay at the Trump SoHo in New York this season has likewise already decided to switch to a different property in Manhattan when its current contract expires at season’s end and that the Trump association is among the factors for the switch. Seven other teams told on Tuesday that they are still currently scheduled to stay at Trump-branded properties this season.

The Bucks stayed at the Trump International Tower and Hotel in Chicago on a preseason trip to play the Bulls in early October, but met with complications when they tried to make an 11th-hour cancellation. Milwaukee, sources say, has already made other arrangements for its regular-season road games against the Bulls.

The Grizzlies and Mavericks, have stayed at the Trump SoHo in the past but opted during the offseason to book new New York hotels for this season. Mavs owner Mark Cuban, speaking Wednesday, told the Associated Press that the decision was “made months ago. Not recently.” Grizzlies coach David Fizdale, speaking after the team’s shootaround Wednesday in Los Angeles, insisted that where Memphis stays or doesn’t stay is not politically motivated. “No truth to that,” Fizdale told the Memphis Commercial Appeal on Wednesday. “Our decisions as to what hotels we stay in ‎are made long before any of this election stuff took place. It’s no story‎.”

The report also goes on to state that the some NBA coaches and their players have felt uneasy since Trump’s election. Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy voiced his displeasure with Trump, saying “[he is] openly and brazenly racist and misogynistic and ethnocentric.”

Philadelphia 76ers Back-Track On Statements, Apologize To Sevyn Streeter

Under Armour Curry 3 Launch

Source: Jerritt Clark / Getty

Looks like the Philadelphia 76ers organization is back-tracking, after getting some serious heat this week.

Singer, Sevyn Streeter was prepared to sing the National Anthem at the season opening Sixers game against OKC but instead was told she couldn’t because of dress code. The 30-year-old was wearing a “We Matter” jersey that apparently offended management.

“I’d say two minutes before we were about to walk out… the organization told me that I could not wear my shirt while singing the national anthem at their game,” she exclusively told ESPN. “I was never given any kind of dress code. I was never asked beforehand to show my wardrobe.”

She also posted on Instagram to voice her upset immediately after it happened.

In the aftermath, a statement was released from the 76ers explaining why they stopped her from performing: “The Philadelphia 76ers organization encourages meaningful actions to drive social change. We use our games to bring people together, to build trust and to strengthen our communities. As we move from symbolic gestures to action, we will continue to leverage our platform to positively impact our community.”

Apparently, that passive statement didn’t sit well with fans or the team’s players.

So today, they released another statement, apologizing to Sevyn for their actions: “We are sorry that this happened. After receiving feedback from our players, basketball operations staff and ownership group, we believe the wrong decision was made, and Sevyn should have been welcomed to sing. We apologize to her, and in an effort to move the conversation forward, we have reached out to offer her an opportunity to return and perform at a game of her choice. We are waiting to hear back.”

Too little, too late? Let us know your thoughts on this.

Hall Of Fame Day AI! 7 Ways Allen Iverson Changed The Game Forever

The Las Vegas Superstar Challenge - News Conference

Allen Iverson‘s impact on the NBA will never be forgotten. The bad boy label he received upon entering the league did nothing but fuel the fire that led him to be one of the smallest yet dominating point guards to ever touch the court. He kept the antics to a minimum but his personality was always on display, whether it be an entertaining press conference or crossing over your favorite player’s favorite player. He was the man and the answer.

To celebrate his induction into the NBA Hall of Fame, here are the ways Allen Iverson changed the game.

Ushering In The Dreaded Dress Code

Philadelphia 76ers V Sacramento Kings

In October 2005, David Stern changed the NBA’s dress code, and the new set of rules was often jokingly referred to as the “A.I. Rule.” Some thought the rules were racist or a slap in the face to the hip-hop community with XXXXL shirts, baggy jeans, Timberlands and oversized necklaces being banned. Iverson did usher in flashy dressing and soon became the scapegoat for the new rule.

The NBA’s Tattoo Wave

Did Iverson invent tattoos? Far from it. But the Philly legend shed light on the ink whenever he suited up for the 76ers. From the Chinese symbols on his neck to the full sleeves, Iverson always showed off his tattoos. Arms were mostly bare before his reign, and afterwards the tatted trend exploded. From fellow bad boy J.R. Smith getting a “Young Money” tattoo on his neck to Kenyon Martin getting lips tattooed on his neck, Iverson’s presence is still felt on the court every night.

Being A Flashy Player With A Killer Crossover

[ione_embed src= service=youtube width=560 height=315 type=iframe]

Allen Iverson put the team on his back and wasn’t afraid to let you know it. That crossover on Tyronn Lue might be one the most cringeworthy yet best plays to ever happen on the hardwood. Iverson had no problem dribbling circles around his opponents to step back and drain a long-range three. Or if he felt like it, he wasn’t scared to drive into the paint and draw contact while scoring an easy lay-up. Every night he played he left it all on the court and as a 76ers fan, there’s not much more you can ask for.

Sneaker Deals

[ione_embed src= service=youtube width=420 height=315 type=iframe]

With the Michael Jordan reign coming to an end, many wondered which player would now have the hottest sneakers. While Reebok had previous athletes like Shaq, his line wasn’t the biggest success. But Reebok had a star on its hands with the Iverson collection. The shoes were versatile coming in high top and low top editions and embodied everything that was Iverson: sturdy and flashy. It was further proof that there was more room for more than just Nike in the athletic footwear world.

Press Conference Shenanigans

[ione_embed src= service=youtube width=420 height=315 type=iframe]

Practice? We’re sitting here, I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we’re in here talking about practice,” asked Iverson in one of the most entertaining post-game press conferences in sports history. The only person to rival his overall attitude with the press is Marshawn “‘Bout That Action” Lynch.

The NBA’s Obsession with Braids

Philadelphia 76ers' Allen Iverson (R) kisses his d

The early 2000s led to trend of dudes having braids, much of which can be attributed to Iverson’s rise to the top of the NBA. Not only did this lead to some of your male classmates having awkward afros for months and walking around with picks for the better part of a semester. And while it was perfectly plausible to see one of your friends getting their hair braided on a stoop (word to R. Kelly) Iverson took things a bit further when his mother braided his hair during a game while A.I. sat courtside. Who else would have the audacity to do that?

Actually Being A Good Rapper (And An Amazing Athlete)

[ione_embed src= service=youtube width=420 height=315 type=iframe]

Please don’t forget that Iverson actually had bars and also don’t forget that his rap name is Jewelz. One of his best songs is “40 Bars” which has so many hot lines that it’s featured on Genius. With lyrics like “get murdered in a second in the first degree” A.I. is out to prove that he’s about that life. Iverson was definitely one of the best ball players-turned-rappers, with the exception of Kobe Bryant. Kobe comes out on top simply off of getting that Tyra Banks feature.
