Good thing Travis Scott made a lot of money during his recent Astroworld tour cause he lost a lawsuit for not appearing for an event during last year’s Super Bowl.

Entertainment event company PJAM was awarded $382,932.79 due to Travis skipping out on the event, a source says Travis missed the event due to “weather and logistics,” however, PJAM said in a statement that Travis “refused to show up at the event” hours before the show after being paid $150,000 up front and given the use of a private jet.

“The jury verdict of $383k is disappointing but far less than the seven-figure demands made by the promoters. We believe the verdict will be substantially reduced or overturned in subsequent proceedings,” said Travis’ lawyer, Howard King.

Five Men Arrested for the Murder of DJ Khaled’s Brother-In-Law

Back in February, Jonathan Tuck was murdered in New York where it seemed like a drug deal gone wrong. Tuck is the brother of Nicole Tuck, DJ Khaled’s fiance. After investigation and talk with close friends, Tuck was just at the wrong place wrong time. After visiting a Super Bowl party 5 men attempted to rob Tuck, which involved in a scuffled that end with Tuck being shot in the head.

Months later, the men that were responsible for his killing have been arrested and charged.

According to the United States Department of Justice, five people have been charged with robbery conspiracy, robbery, and murder through the use of a firearm. Tuck was unintentionally shot and killed in the scuffle as the men responsible have been identified as Luis Semiday (AKA PopOff), Richard Jimenez (AKA Showtime), Kevin Cruz (AKA Juice), Ira Lawson (AKA Malachi) and Curtis Hines (AKA Curt.) The names and nicknames were issued in a statement by the department of justice.

NYPD commissioner James P. O’Neill has commented on the charges, saying, “I applaud the tireless work of our NYPD detectives and our partners at the Southern District, whose close collaboration led to today’s charges. We have zero tolerance for crime and violence of any kind in our city, and New Yorkers in every neighborhood deserve to feel safe on our streets. Today, these five men are correctly being held accountable for their actions – which include, tragically, ending another man’s life.”

Cam Newton Sued For Reportedly Trashing Rental Home After Super Bowl Loss

It’s been a rough year for Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. After his team lost the Super Bowl, he found himself in a whirlwind of controversy regarding his comments about the Black Lives Matter movement and fellow NFL player Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest. Now, he finds himself in legal trouble. Yesterday, Newton was hit with a $270,000 lawsuit for allegedly destroying a luxury Beverly Hills rental property.

Reportedly after losing the Super Bowl, a distraught Newton trashed the home, accruing several thousand dollars worth of damage. The Root has further details of the lawsuit.

Via The Root:

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is being sued for reportedly trashing a California mansion after his dismal performance in the Super Bowl. According to Yahoo! Sports, Newton is “facing a $270,000 lawsuit over alleged damages to an $11 million home he rented in Beverly Hills.”

Newton rented the luxury home during the summer from a company managed by Jared Pobre, husband of former WWE wrestler Stacy Keibler. The agreement was that Newton would rent the place for 61 days for $123,000 and there would be no parties or smoking while he was in the place.

Pobre’s lawsuit claims that he had to replace a $32,930.48 rug, plus fix water damage to the floors and walls. The lawsuit also alleges that because the repairs took time, the property was off the market for two months and lost some $144,000 in revenue. Pobre claims in the lawsuit that he asked Newton to pay some $90,000 for damages, but Newton has not paid, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Newton has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but it is expected that a settlement will be reached between the two parties.

During a concert in L.A., Adele revealed to a crowd of thousands of fans that she had been offered the coveted halftime performance slot at the 2017 NFL super bowl game. Typically, halftime at the Super Bowl is reserved for spectacular performances of song in dance. In most recent memory, for instance, is Beyonce & Bruno Mars‘ Uptown Formation Dance Off, which showcased two of the Super Bowl’s two most-watched performers in recent years. But who could possibly hold it down this year? Click on the audio player to hear more in this exclusive clip from the “Ed Lover Show.”

Kanye West Fans Try To Convince NFL To Let Yeezus Perform At The Super Bowl

The Official Birthday Bash Afterparty Hosted by Future

Kanye West fans sometimes go harder for Kanye than Kanye goes for Kanye.

Since Adele announced that she turned down the opportunity to perform during the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show, the Internet decided that it should be Yeezus who takes the stage by starting the hashtag campaign, #KanyeWestForSuperBowl51.

The league has been pretty strict about choosing non-controversial artists to hit the halftime stage following Janet Jackson‘s nip-slip-gate, so there’s no guarantee that the social media campaign will work…but it’s great entertainment.

RUMOR HAS IT: The NFL Wants Adele To Perform For 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Brit Awards 2016 - Red Carpet Arrivals

Adele for the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show? Yes, please.

According to new reports, the “When We Were Young” singer is being courted as the halftime performer at this year’s big championship game. The only issue Adele is having, allegedly, is her nerves.

From Just Jared:

The 28-year-old superstar is reportedly being courted by the NFL, TMZ reports. The site reports that Adele’s nerves may be the only thing holding her back, as the halftime show is watched by over 100 million people. The rumors first began with a report from The Sun.

Adele notoriously broke the internet with her third studio album 25, after a three-year plus hiatus from music. We say she’s the perfect choice, but only time will tell if this rumor actually comes to fruition.

The Anti-Beyonce Protest Was A Massive Success… For Beyonce Fans

Anti-Anti Beyonce Protest Rally At NFL Headquarters

Three brave Beyonce haters showed up outside NFL’s headquarters in NYC for the Anti-Beyonce protest, where they were met by the Beyhive, who showed up in support of their queen.

In case you missed it, critics organized the protest in response to Beyonce’s Super Bowl performance that they labeled a race-baiting stunt.

Mayor Guiliani also spoke about about Bey’s Black Power statement at the Super Bowl.

“This is football, not Hollywood, and I thought it was really outrageous that [Beyoncé] used it as a platform to attack police officers who are the people who protect her and protect us, and keep us alive,” the former mayor said in an interview with Fox News.

Dozens of fans attended the anti-protest-turned-Beyonce-pep-rally with signs that read “End Police Brutality And Murder” and “Why Are People Afraid Of Black Pride?”

Let your haters be your motivators.

T.I. Defends Beyonce Against Super Bowl Performance Criticism

[ione_embed src= service=youtube width=650 height=360 type=iframe]

It’s no secret that closeted racists around America are pissed at Beyonce for her empowering Super Bowl performance.

During the Super Bowl halftime show, Beyonce performed her new single “Formation” in a Michael Jackson-inspired costume. While Beysus paid homage to the greatest pop star of all time, her background dancers channeled the Black Panther Party, a social activist group founded in the late ’60s.

Since then, conservatives like former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani have spoken out against Beyonce, calling the performance an “attack” on cops.

The good folks at TMZ caught up with Atlanta rapper T.I. to get his perspective on the matter, and this is what he had to say:

“It’s an attack on cops that attack our people. How they gon’ protest against our protest? I don’t think that Beyoncé was being malicious in any way in her demonstration, and I feel that anything that is done to demonstrate against a pure demonstration is gon’ lose in the end.”

He wrapped up his response by adding a very valid point:

“Everything that we’re doing as far as the Black Lives Matter movement, it is to speak out and fight against unnecessary, unlawful death of our people, by people who are supposed to be put in a position of authority to protect and serve our people. So if you are against that, then to me, that is un-American.”

Boop! You tell ’em, T.I.

White Feminists Attack Beyonce For Being Left Out Of “Formation”

[anvplayer video=”4229641″]

Beyonce’s Super Bowl Sunday performance of “Formation” left the world in either shock or awe, depending who you are. But many White feminists seemed to feel merely left out.

R&B singer Arika Kane took to social media to voice her displeasure:

Kane and many others in the White feminist movement feel as though they should have been included in Beyonce’s tribute to the women of the Black Panther Party, and that the artist’s performance created a dividing line in their movement.

As a result of Kane and others’ critique of Beyonce, Black Twitter clapped back:

NewsOne Now panelist Michelle Bernard said, “This argument has been going on forever.”

“Since the days of Betty Friedan, many Black women would say to you (feminists), ‘your feminist movement does not include us.’ We’ve always had to work, whether to stay home or work outside of the home after you’ve had a child. A lot of those questions that apply to White women had nothing to do with our lives,” said Bernard.

She added, “I’m not surprised by any of the complaints — it’s just sad, there should be enough room for any woman to be whatever type of feminist she wants, even if that means performing at the Super Bowl and paying tribute to the women of the Black Panthers – not all White women need to be included.”

Protesters Plan To #BoycottBeyonce Over Super Bowl Performance

Coldplay Or Maroon 5? Taraji P. Henson Fumbles During Halftime Show By Tweeting The Wrong Band

Empire star Taraji P. Henson was lit during Super Bowl 50, enjoying the game, the halftime performance, and live tweeting throughout the whole thing.

She was excited to see the show, but it was clear she only showed up for Beyonce.

Afterwards, Taraji made a mistake by tweeting a shout-out to Maroon 5, even though it was Coldplay with Bruno Mars actually on stage.

Fans quickly informed her of the mistake and in true Taraji fashion, she owned it like a queen.

We all make mistakes, just ask Cam Newton.

In the meantime, Taraji also got to meet Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz’s son Egypt and planted a big smooch on him.

Pardon The Interruption: Marshawn Lynch Retires On Twitter During The Super Bowl

Marshawn Lynch

Source: Christian Petersen / Getty

Before everyone was Dabbin’ on Em with Cam, they were going into beastmode and only showing up to work so they didn’t get fined.

The reason for that is one Marshawn Lynch, the beloved (and often controversial) Seattle Seahawks running back, who announced his retirement on Twitter during Super Bowl 50, the biggest football night of the year.

Cue: Fans to collapse into all the feels.

Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos defeated Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, winning the Super Bowl 24-10, and Lynch retires?

And here we thought that Queen Bey coming out in all Black everything, with her squad rocking Black Panther gear and afros meant that it was going to be a good night.

Word on the street is that Lynch, who suffered some injuries at the end of last season, was about to get the boot from Seahawks execs because they didn’t want to run him his money. Some may call them smart; we call them trifling.

Whatever the case, we’re sure this won’t be the last time we hear from our favorite Oakland bad ass.

Don’t judge Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl performance by her patriotic and Hunger Game-inspired ensemble, she killed it. The Countess opened Sunday night’s game with a soul-infused performance of the national anthem that has the Internet talking.

Gaga slayed as her pipes soared through Levi’s Stadium.

Relive her epic performance, below:

We can’t help but think Gaga showed up and showed out in an effort to silence haters who criticised her Golden Globe win.

“Hot Sauce In My Bag, Swag”: Reactions To Beyoncé’s ‘Formation’ And Its Larger Context

TIDAL X: 1020

There’s no question that Beyoncé’s latest video and song, “Formation” is oozing with a pro-Black agenda. She says it [“I like my negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils”], she looks it being styled by Shiona Turini, and she conveys it on lens under the direction of Melina Matsoukas.

From the writing to the conceptualization and residing voice of the Queen Diva of New Orleans Bounce, Big Freedia, Queen Bey took on the task of informing her fan base that she’s not only an international superstar but a proud Black woman. And as more eyes watched the video, more opinions were formed about the message and overall direction the 34-year-old’s career.

“#Formation is one of the blackest, countriest, southernest, dopest, bravest, ratchetest music videos I’ve seen in a while. Loved it,” Trouble T-Roy said on Twitter. “If Cam Newton wins the Super Bowl after Beyoncé performs ‘Formation’ in the last year of Obama’s presidency, do reparations appear?,” Michelle Huxtable commented.

While there is question as to why the singer is choosing to highlight New Orleans ten years after Hurricane Katrina’s devastation, the message should not go for nought. The city was ignored, the people –predominately of color– are still suffering, and Beyoncé has direct linage to Louisiana. There’s no question or doubt about that.

What is interesting, is the mainstream reaction to the song and video. Quite frankly, some White folks didn’t know how to digest it.

Cosmopolitan quickly came under fire for calling Blue Ivy a “spirit animal,” which was not only offensive to Native Americans but doesn’t rub well when talking about an actual human being.

Honestly, it’s to be expected. Because when a White artist does a “squad girls” video its the greatest thing ever– even though non-inclusive of people of color. But when a woman as powerful and obviously Black as Beyoncé, does that same thing, there’s chatter.

Well, as Queen Bey put it “Bitch, I’m back by popular demand.”

Watch her win, regardless.

And make sure to check out her performance at the 2016 Super Bowl 50 half time show tonight on CBS at 6:30pm EST.

Queen Bey is hitting the stage with Coldplay, and the rumors are swirling about a possible new song debut during the set.

Maybe this will be the first moment all her quiet hard work comes to fruition.

She’s definitely going to shut the stadium down AGAIN.

Cam Newton Honors Cancer Patient’s Final Wishes With A Signed Jersey

Houston Texans v Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton has kept pretty busy this week leading up to his first-ever Super Bowl appearance, but he still found the time to do a good deed.

On Tuesday night, the Panthers QB signed a jersey for one of his biggest fans, 22-year-old Scot Sieczko, who passed away from cancer two years ago. Scot’s mom, Trae Sieczko, wanted to fulfill her son’s bucket list and set out to get Cam’s autograph.

The mission started when Trae contacted Frank Somerville, an anchor at KTVU in Oakland, on Facebook last week for some help. He shared her story on the social media network and a woman who knows the mayor made a call. The mayor then called the CEO of the 49ers, who called one of the team’s PR staffers, who then called the Panthers to see if Newton would be up for it. Being the great guy he is, Cam was more than willing. So during Tuesday’s Super Bowl Opening Night, Trae was able to meet Cam and not only did he sign her son’s jersey, but he also gifted her a Super Bowl 50 jersey.

Trae was ecstatic about fulfilling her son’s wish.
