John Legend has joined a number of celebrities boycotting the Beverly Hills Hotel ever since it was made known that its owner, the Sultan of Brunei, had implemented Sharia law which calls for the stoning of gays and adulterers. John Legend was the guest of honor for the Pre- Grammy party.

Sharia law is defined as  – the code of law derived from the Koran and from the teachings and example of Mohammed; “sharia is only applicable to Muslims”; “under Islamic law there is no separation of church and state”.

John Legend is currently nominated for an Oscar for best song for his work with Common on the song “Glory” for the civil rights movie Selma, as well as a Grammy for the song “All of Me.”
