(PHILADELPHIA, PA… September 18, 2015) – Radio One Philadelphia’s BOOM 107.9 FM empathetically shares with our listeners that Philly’s own hip-hop sensation, Freeway, became ill earlier this week and will be unable to appear at FREE FEST. Freeway was planning to headline the FREE concert to the public – on Saturday, September 19th at the Electric Factory 421 N 7th St, Philadelphia, PA 19123. BOOM 107.9 is proud to provide a FREE festival to the fans who have welcomed the new “Throwback hip-hop” station to Philadelphia with open arms. Hip-hop legend RAEKWON will now headline FREE FEST hosted by the Monie Love Morning Show, co-host Uncle O, and Afternoon Host Al B Sylk. The outdoor festival is from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and the indoor concert with RAEKWON is from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. (must be 21+, ticket required for entry). FREE FEST is expected to attract several thousand attendees. The outdoor festival will feature Philadelphia’s finest vendors, a DJ Showcase, and hot hip-hop performances by local artists.

“I can only imagine what Freeway is feeling right now. I personally witnessed all the effort he put in with numerous rehearsals with a full band, and all of the push for this show on his social media,” said Darrick “Brown” Williams, Operations Manager for Radio One Philly. “It makes me sad that the city will not witness the gift he was going to give Philly tomorrow, but our hope is that when he is ready we can finish what we started with Freeway and friends.”

FREE FEST gives our growing BOOM audience an all-day, live and home-grown adult hip-hop experience that can only come from the City of Brotherly Love – – and it is all free!”
